Music Department get lucky with Magic FM School of Rock Competition Prize
At lunchtime on Wednesday 4th January we were privileged to have the School Of Rock London theatre cast performing scenes from their Andrew Lloyd Webber show, here at Holy Trinity. The audience were treated to an entertaining, high energy show from the lively performers.
They came to us as part of a Magic FM prize package and the Magic FM Radio Station DJ, Nick Snaith, also came down and presented the prize of £5000 worth of new musical instruments to the Music Department. Mr Mullineux, one of our senior leaders, heard about the competition whilst listening to the radio and thought it could do no harm to enter - little did he know how wonderful things would turn out! One of the main benefits of the prize is that it has enabled us to introduce our Year 7's and 8's to the joys of trumpets and trombones.
The prize also allowed a group of our students to accompany Head of Music Mr Hall and Head of Dance Miss Ashforth to visit the set of the show, meet the cast and see a performance at the New London Theatre, Drury Lane. They were also invited to join Nick in his Magic FM Studio and participated in his live radio broadcast.
To listen to the radio broadcast clips from our studio visit and from after the performance at Holy Trinity School, you can play the MP3 links here. (Please note the second clip is quite a bit louder than the first. This audio may not work if you are accessing via Internet Explorer.)
Magic FM & Bauer Media have made a short film about Holy Trinity's competition win.
