The Holy Trinity Church of England Secondary School

Care & Guidance

Pastoral Structure

Our pastoral care system is organised around a Year-based structure. Each Year Group is headed by a Director of Learning who oversees progress, helps guide students along appropriate learning pathways and promotes well-being.

Currently these are: -

Year 7 – Mrs S Whelan

Year 8 – Mr D Puffitt

Year 9 – Mr A Webster

Year 10 – Mrs J Manuel

Year 11 – Mr P Hunt

Years 12/13 – Mr K Green

Should we decide that more intensive support, usually with some external input, is appropriate, your child may be supported by one of our Directors of Intervention:

Welfare – Mrs S Clarke Inclusion - Mr R Mullineaux

Behaviour – Mr B Deysel

Students are placed in their Year Group and one of four 'Cathedral City' Houses; with the Houses still featuring in aspects of school life, such as competition and charity. The Houses each have a colour which can be seen on the stripes of students’ ties:

Canterbury - Blue

Durham - Red

Winchester - Yellow

York - Green

Whom do I contact if I have concerns about my child?

Initial concern:

Tutor – well-being or general progress concern

Subject teacher – specific issue about progress in one subject

Further concern:

Director of Learning – well-being or general progress

Head of Department – persistent concern in one subject

If in doubt, our Reception staff will happily advise you of the most appropriate person to contact.

Behaviour

Our Code of Conduct is based on the Four R’s

RESPONSIBILTY for all aspects of your school life and conduct

RESPECT for others’ needs, learning, values, feelings

REPAIR of any harm done through our actions

REINTEGRATION into the school community following resolution of any problems

 Uniform

We ask parents/carers to support us in maintaining high standards in all matters relating to school uniform. Should you have any difficulty (financial or other) in obtaining uniform, please contact your child’s Director of Learning in confidence. (For further information go to 'School Information' > 'Uniform' on this website.)

Attendance

If your child is absent from school due to illness, please leave a message on our dedicated absence line of 01293 652971 or e-mail absence@holytrinitycrawley.org.uk

We do call back a sample of those who leave messages to ensure they are genuine and we ask you to confirm the reason for absence with a note on the day of your child’s return to school.

Leave of absence The School does not currently authorise any holidays in term time.

(For further information go to 'School Information' > 'Leave Of Absence')

 Safeguarding Children

Holy Trinity School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we cooperate with other agencies and initiatives at local and national level. Any successful job applicant will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring service check (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau check) at an enhanced level, in line with all schools across West Sussex.  Visitors are required to sign in at reception and may be asked to produce photographic ID.
